About
Read on for information about our company and its history, or read these short staff biographies on the main principles for InMediaRes Productions & Catalyst Game Labs.
InMediaRes Productions, LLC is a publishing company that specializes in the production of high quality products (both licensed and original), from professional media tie-in fiction to roleplaying and board games, with an emphasis on the strong support of web-based communities.
It began as a ‘what-if’ concept in September of 2002 when Loren Coleman, a novelist with twenty media titles to his name, brought the idea to a small group of people with professional interests in BattleTech® productions. The limited partnership was founded in 2003 for the express purpose of gaining a license to BattleTech fiction and developing a brand identity with BattleCorps.com.
In the fall of 2003, WizKids, Inc. (then WizKids, LLC) granted InMediaRes Productions rights to electronic publication of BattleTech fiction and non-exclusive rights which would cover small, promotional uses of BattleTech fiction and art. BattleCorps.com was officially announced at GenCon 2003, and went into a year-long development cycle which finally saw its debut on August 2nd, 2004.
Since that time, BattleCorps.com has published more than a half-million words of fiction based in the BattleTech universe and has worked hand in hand with the publisher of the BattleTech product line to help push various storylines. Additionally, it has released a slew of supporting paraphernalia for BattleTech, including badges, posters and t-shirts.
InMediaRes Productions, LLC also has the license to electronic publication for Shadowrun fiction and is in the development cycle for the launching of a similar fiction-based, community supporting website in Holostreets.com.
In early 2007, InMediaRes Productions, LLC opened negotiations with WizKids, Inc. to obtain the world-wide RPG publishing rights for the BattleTech and Shadowrun Intellectual Properties from WizKids, Inc. To facilitate this, InMediaRes Productions, LLC, is expanding its operations and forming a new publishing division, Catalyst Game Labs, to produce and publish products for both properties.
The personnel directly responsible for producing the BattleTech and Shadowrun lines for almost a decade will continue their support of these fantastic properties under the Catalyst Game Labs imprint: the same people who developed Shadowrun, Fourth Edition, the EN World RPG Award (“ENNies”) winner for Best Rules and Best Product, and who also developed Total Warfare for the BattleTech line to much acclaim.
